My name is Tia Ziagos (she/her/hers) and I am so excited to be a Kindergarten Crew Leader at DDES this year! I am looking forward to being part of a school that so strongly aligns with my personal educational philosophy and can’t wait to create a positive classroom environment to help your scholar learn and grow!
I was born and raised in New Jersey, about thirty minutes outside of New York City. Growing up, I had many opportunities to experience a variety of museums, concerts, and cultural events. I did my undergraduate work at Seton Hall University where I received my BA in Art History in 2013. In 2015, I packed up my life and moved to Ulsan, South Korea where I taught English to kindergarteners until 2016, and then again from 2017 to 2020. When the pandemic began, I made the decision to get my teaching license and received my M.Ed in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 2021. Since then, I have taught first grade in Greeley District 6 and fourth grade in Jeffco. Now, I am thrilled to be back teaching kindergarten – where my passion for teaching began – and to use the Expeditionary Learning curriculum to give deeper meaning to my lessons as well as my students’ classroom experiences. Outside of school, I live with my partner, Tylor, and our tuxedo cat, Klaus. When I’m not working, I love traveling, going to heavy metal shows, cooking, and spending time with friends. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work at DDES and I can’t wait to get to know you and your student!
