JáNet Hurt

JáNet Hurt, Board Secretary, is part of a Downtown Denver Expeditionary School (DDES) founding family. Her son Jaaziah, who is currently in middle school, attended DDES from kindergarten through fifth grade.  She and her husband have three children and live in Northeast Denver. JáNet is a Denver native and received her primary and secondary schooling in Denver Public Schools, ultimately graduating from George Washington High School in 1997. She attended the University of Northern Arizona for two years on a full-ride track scholarship before transferring to University of Colorado Boulder to finish her degree (BS ’01, Business Administration, Management). She has served as the executive assistant to the Dean in the School of Education & Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver for more than 15 years. Her duties include providing administrative support and calendar management for the Dean, managing the Dean’s Office budget, coordinating and overseeing all school meetings and events, and overseeing all facilities operations/projects, among other things. JáNet is an elected member of the Staff Council for the University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus which is the staff governing body for the University. In her spare time (if there is such a thing), JáNet is very active in her religious organization and enjoys watching and attending sporting events and spending time with her close-knit extended family.
