Billy Burch

Billy grew up (and remains) a lover of play – playing music and playing in the outdoors both “fill his bucket”. Billy’s early life was spent by the coast in Rhode Island. In 4th grade, he became a Virginia boy until moving to Denver in 2004. He holds a BA in Music Technology from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) and a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from University of Colorado Denver. In 2005, Billy discovered EL Education (then, Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound) and began his teaching career at Odyssey School of Denver. There, he spent more than a decade teaching second and third grade before becoming the school’s founding K-8 Music Teacher. Billy has been a big fan of the DDES community and culture for a long time (fun fact – his sister was a founding DDES staff member). He’s thrilled to join the DDES Crew and looks forward to learning and embodying The Way of the Blue Bear. When not teaching, Billy loves to play music, laugh with family and friends, and most of all, adventure with his wife Aimee and their dog, Betty.
