Amy Anderson, (she, her, hers) will be starting her 7th year at DDES. For the last six years she has been a DDES Behavior Paraprofessional and this will be her first year as a Kindergarten Crew Leader. Amy is thrilled to be joining the Kinder team and she is excited to share her passion for learning by fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for her students. She looks forward to continuing to build meaningful relationships within the DDES community while working with students and families.
Amy grew up in Tucson, Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. After graduation, Amy and her husband moved to Denver where she taught for several years in Head Start and preschool settings; roles ranging from lead teacher to Child Family Educator. After teaching for several years, Amy took a break from teaching and stayed home to raise her three amazing kids and fellow DDES alumni, daughter Maryn (16) and her two sons Garrick (13) and Odin (11). Amy’s journey began with DDES shortly after her daughter started kindergarten and she supported the school in a variety of ways ranging from Crew Parent, fieldwork/adventure chaperones and school wide projects. Amy returned to the classroom after all of her kids were in elementary school and worked with the DDES support staff and Special Education Team. Her children’s school experiences and her involvement with the DDES community made the transition back into the classroom an easy choice!
Outside of school, Amy enjoys exploring the great outdoors with her favorite people, spending time with her family and fur babies, cooking, gardening and attending music concerts with her husband Jason.
