Alejandro Fuentes Mena joined the board in August 2024. Alejandro was born in Valparaiso, Chile and grew up in San Diego, California starting at the age of four. He received a B.A. in Psychology from Whitman College and his Masters in Educational Leadership from High Tech High GSE. Through Teach for America, Alejandro was one of the first two DACAmented teachers in the entire nation and was an educator for a decade. Alejandro also served as the Co-Founder of Radical Arts Academy of Denver set to open as RASA Fall 2024, works as an educational consultant, and is looking for his next passion and adventure. Senator Durbin featured his story on the Senate floor to showcase the transformative impact of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Through a TEDx talk and Motus Theatre’s UndocuAmerica Project, Alejandro seeks to humanize the narrative of undocumented lives. As an artist, Alejandro regularly performs in an a cappella group, the StoryTellers303, sang in the band, the Pink Hawks, and performs improvisational theater with Motus Theater’s Playback theater.
