First Grade TA
HI! I’m Teri (She/Her), and I’m excited to be joining the DDES community as a 1st Grade Teaching Assistant! I’m currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, with the goal of continuing to support students with diverse learning needs as a Speech Pathologist.
I have experience working with students across a variety of settings, including general education classrooms, specialized autism programs, and behavioral support environments. My work has focused on building relationships, supporting student independence, using data to understand student needs, and collaborating with educators and families to help students thrive.
I’m especially passionate about creating supportive learning environments where every student feels known, valued, and capable. I’m drawn to DDES because of its commitment to community-based learning and the belief that education extends beyond the walls of the classroom. I care deeply about the role schools play in their communities and am excited to contribute to a school that values connection, collaboration, and meaningful learning experiences. I’m looking forward to learning from the DDES community while bringing my own experience, curiosity, and commitment to supporting students.
Outside of work and school, I spend much of my time with my family and enjoy finding creative ways to connect learning, community, and fun. I am deeply committed to mutual aid and community building, running a local Buy Nothing group and leading Punk Scouts, a youth club that fosters creativity, community, and self-expression outside of traditional scouting models. .
I’m excited to get to know the students, families, and staff of DDES and to be part of the 1st Grade crew!
