Ryan Nielsen, First Grade Crew Leader, earned his teaching license from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego in 2006. He spent the next year teaching middle school math in Tegucigalpa, Honduras before returning to San Diego to teach preschool/kindergarten at a Montessori school. After teaching second grade for two years at Integrity Charter School in San Diego, Ryan got married and moved with his wife to South Korea for two years to teach English at a preschool/kindergarten. In 2012, Ryan and his wife, Katie, moved to Denver and he spent the next 6 years at SOAR Charter School teaching kindergarten-second grade. He joined the Downtown Denver Expeditionary team in 2018. When he’s not at school, Ryan enjoys playing basketball, guitar and going on hikes with his wife and two boys, Easton (7) and August (4).
