Lana Perez

Fifth Grade Crew Leader

Hi, I’m Lana Perez and I will be teaching 5th Grade Crew/Expedition this year!

I’m originally from Northern Virginia, but have lived and taught all over America & the world! Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for education and began pursuing it in college where I studied Liberal Studies/Elementary Education at University of California Riverside and later received a masters in Childhood & Bilingual Education at Fordham University. I began my teaching career in New York City through Teach for America and have also taught at schools in Denver. This past year, I was able to achieve a personal dream of getting to teach abroad in Taiwan, which was a life-changing experience!

Outside of work, I love to spend time in nature, often accompanied by my dog Kuma, getting lost in a book, or being creative through things like baking, playing music or doing embroidery. I like making connections and building community through interests and parts of my background spending time with climbers in Cruxing in Color or celebrating my culture with the Filipino American Community Center. I’m a big movie fan and a huge Nuggets fan and would happily yap for long periods of time about either topic. I love to travel and explore new places. Also food. I love food. This year marks my 15th year as an educator and I’m excited to get to know everyone in the DDES extended community this year and have adventures and memories with all!
