Social Worker
Colette Franz (she/her) is the school social worker at DDES, where she is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment where students of all identities and backgrounds can thrive. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Colette holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from UCLA and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver.
She provides individual and group counseling, services for students with IEPs, and helps coordinate 504 and behavior plans. Colette also consults with staff, supports SEL across the school, contributes to crisis response, and connects families with resources like food, housing, and mental health care. As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, Colette recognizes the power of play as a child’s natural language and uses playful, relational approaches to build trust and co-regulate with students, especially those navigating big feelings or hard transitions.
