Kindergarten Crew Leader

Hello! My name is Amy (she/her/hers), and Iโ€™m thrilled to be starting my 9th year at DDES. Before becoming a Kindergarten Crew Leader, I spent six years as a Behavior Paraprofessional, supporting students and helping create positive learning environments. This year marks my third year as a Kindergarten Crew Leader, and Iโ€™m passionate about fostering a classroom where students feel supported, valued, and excited to learn. I look forward to continuing to build strong, meaningful relationships within the DDES community while working alongside our amazing students and families.

I grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University. After graduation, my husband and I moved to Denver, where I taught in Head Start and preschool programsโ€”taking on roles from Lead Teacher to Child Family Educator. Eventually, I took a break from teaching to stay home and raise my three wonderful kidsโ€”Maryn (18), Garrick (15), and Odin (13)โ€”all proud DDES alumni!

My journey with DDES began when my daughter started kindergarten. I quickly became involved in the community as a Crew Parent, fieldwork and adventure chaperone, and participant in school-wide projects. Once all my children were in elementary school, I returned to the classroom, joining the DDES support staff and Special Education team. The strong sense of community and the incredible experiences my children had at DDES inspired me to return to education, and Iโ€™m grateful to now be part of this amazing school community as a crew leader.

Outside of school, I enjoy exploring the great outdoors with my favorite people, spending time with my family and fur babies, cooking, gardening and attending music concerts with my husband Jason.
